Red River Zoo
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Zoo! As a reminder -- you must be 18 years or older to volunteer at the Zoo. New Volunteer Orientation is your opportunity to learn more about the Red River Zoo and our volunteer program. It's also your opportunity to pay your one-time $25 volunteer fee and receive your volunteer shirt. New Volunteer Orientations are held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. prior to our regularly scheduled Volunteer Meeting. (Unless otherwise noted.) In the event that these dates/times don't work for you, we can try to make other arrangements. E-mail alison@redriverzoo.org

Our volunteer meetings are generally held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of a given month. Meetings are generally held at the Red River Zoo, unless specified otherwise. Each volunteer meeting is an opportunity to learn what's happening at the Zoo, what volunteer opportunities are available, and visit with your fellow volunteers. We also try to have guest speakers.

Running a carousel is a lot of work! Thankfully we've got a great group of volunteers to help us out.

Diet Prep shifts are an excellent way to get involved with directly supporting our Zookeepers and animals at the Zoo. Diet Prep shifts involve preparing diets for the animals under the supervision of Marcy Thompson, one of our Zookeepers. No prior experience is necessary. NOTE: First time Diet Prepper's must train on a Saturday before signing up for any other shift.

If you're interested in helping out with these projects, you can sign up for a position here and then e-mail Matt at matt@redriverzoo.org to coordinate a time to come in and get started.

Party for the Planet is our Earth Day celebration at the Zoo! We'll have an assortment of booths and activities at the Zoo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will need volunteer help with setup/teardown, admissions, the carousel (hopefully it's fixed by then,) patio concessions, the Dancing Crane Cafe, and general floats.
